THREE CONTROLLING TECHNIQUES TO BE PRACTICE IN ORGANIZATIONS. Students should be able to relate the techniques to propose the right performance.

Define control.

a) Regulatory process that directs the activities of an organization to achieve anticipated goals and standards

b) Control is the process of ensuring actual activities conform to the planned activities

c) ongoing process used to determine if an organization meets its mission, objective and goal and use their resources effectively

d) The importance of control: Monitoring Performance, Quality Improvements, Continuous Improvements & Timely Respond to Problems

Three types of control:

SELF CONTROL

a)      State of the human soul which strives to execute the commandments of Allah

b)      Belief in Tawhid(Tawhid Rububiyyah and Uluhiyyah) and Five Pillars of Islam leads towards taqwa and accountability

c)       Accountability motivates self control

d)      Self control develop good qualities in man(an employee, a manager or a leader)

e)      Prevent fraud, BCT, abuse of power and squandering of public funds,transparency and good conduct

SOCIAL CONTROL

a)      In Islam society is as important as the individual in preventing deviations from the Commandments of Allah SWT

b)      The culture of enjoining good and forbidding evil(amr maaruf nahi mungkar) creates a sense of social control(Surah Al-Imran:104) will enhance self control

c)       Self Control to correct leaders of the state or organization(I have been given authority over you and I am not the best among you. If I do right help me and if I do wrong correct me-Caliph Abu Bakar

d)      In organization, the members perform social control to prevent deviations from the goals

e)      Social control leads to team work, sense of belongings and the elimination of negative elements.

INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL a)      Control is also done through the mechanism establish by the state or an organization.

b)      Al Hisba is an effective controlling mechanism introduced throughout the Islamic history.The person responsible is called Muhtasib.

c)       It is a one stop agency performing different functions of control in line with `amr bil ma’ruf wan-nahi `anil mungkar’ to enforce al-adl wal ihsan and haq(truth) outlined by the state.

*above is the simple notes on control. You can simplify it again for examination purpose. Use these notes to relate a certain type of control. The best is to combine/ propose everything. The three controls must run concurrently not a stand alone control.
